Ellen Pompeo, who is returning as Meredith Grey for the 11th season of 'Grey's Anatomy', has revealed that she is planning to quit acting for a full-time switch behind the camera.
In a panel discussion, hosted by BuzzFeed, Pompeo discussed a variety of topics with fellow TV stars -- Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder). All the three actresses feature as leads of Shonda Rhimes' three show.
Pompeo said she has been working on the production side for the past six years and finds the process more interesting than acting, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
"I definitely don't have a strong desire to act after Grey's; I definitely feel myself transitioning. I don't find acting terribly empowering. For the place I am in my life... I don't necessarily want to work for other people," she said.
Asked to clarify what appeared to be a retirement declaration, she said: "I mean, never say never, I'm not going to come out and make one of those statements like, 'I'm retiring after' and then in February come back... I try to keep an open heart, an open mind, an open soul and spirit to whatever comes my way, and whatever is meant to be for me will be.
