Emergency response centre inaugurated in Puducherry

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy Fridayinaugurated an 'Emergency Response Centre' which is a part of Nirbhaya Fund scheme.

The centre, set up at a cost of Rs 3.23 crore, integrates all the present facilities to respond to emergency and distress calls.

A single emergency number (112) is the new facility which has unified the other emergency and distress call numbers such as100 for police help, 101 for services of the fire and rescue services department, 108 for ambulance facility and 181 for the women and child care.

A single number 112 integrates these emergency numbers, a press release said.

Narayanasamy also declared open the cyber forensic lab-cum-training centre for cyber crime analysis.

This lab has been set up at a cost of Rs 1.62 crores provided by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme.

The release said the facility is also part of the Nirbhaya fund.

A lab for analysis of cyber crime and a training centre had been set up at a cost of Rs 1.62 crore provided by the Union Home Ministry, the release said.

The Chief Minister also declared open a traffic management centre set up by the police department in association with the Institute of Road Traffic Education to improve traffic management system.
