Emily Blunt to star in 'Captain Marvel'?

Actress Emily Blunt will reportedly play Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the upcoming female-led superhero movie.
Co-host El Mayimbe, in latest "Meet the Movie Press" episode, revealed that the 32-year-old star would be a very likely candidate to take titular role, reported Aceshowbiz.
Back in April, a report surfaced that the studio wanted Charlize Theron to play the lead female character. However, there has been no confirmation about the casting as of now.
Danvers first debuted in 1968's "Marvel Super-Heroes". She was a US Air Force security chief who is transformed into Captain Marvel following an explosion that involved Kree technology.

Since there has not been any director attached to the project, it seems like the studio will look for a director first before they start their casting search.
Kevin Feige will produce the movie while Nicole Perlman ('Guardians of the Galaxy') and Meg LeFauve ('Inside Out (2015)') are writing the script.

"Captain Marvel" is slated for a release in the US on November 2, 2018.
In February, a source suggested that people behind the female-led superhero movie eyed Angelina Jolie to helm "Captain Marvel" following her work in "Unbroken".
Blunt will next be seen in action movie "Sicario".
