Eminent Assamese sports journalist passes away

Eminent Assamese journalist Pankaj Chetia today died following prolonged illness at his Jorhat residence, family sources said.
He was 55 and is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Chetia, a former news editor with Assamese daily 'Amar Asom' was injured in a road mishap in 2008 and was bedridden since then. Chetia was also a renowned state football player and a former President of Jorhat Press Club. Several organisations and prominent persons have condoled Chetia's death.
