Badal Basu, who was the GM of leading publishing house Ananda Publishers of the ABP group, died at a private super-speciality hospital here this noon, ABP group sources said.
Basu, who was born in Jhargram of then Midnapore district, was 78 and admitted to the hospital earlier this month.
He left behind wife and two daughters.
A familiar face in city's literary fraternity he was close to luminaries like late Samaresh Basu, Sunil Gangopadhyay and Shakti Chatopadhyay and an important functionary of Publishers and Booksellers Guild.
Basu's autobiographucal work 'Peon Theke Prakashak' made interesting reading chronicling the life journey of a humble mofussil boy to the helm of a leading publication and becoming their face at Frankfurt and other world book fairs.
