The 'Amazing Spider-Man' star will team up with the Hollywood helmer for the first time, reported Contactmusic.
The motion picture is expected to be similar to Crowe's Oscar-winning movies, 1996's rom-com 'Jerry Maguire' - which starred Tom Cruise and saw Cuba Gooding Jr pick up an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor - and 2000 comedy-drama "Almost Famous".
Scott Rudin is to produce the film, which is rumoured to be a rewrite of Crowe's previously shelved project "Deep Tiki", which he planned to make after 2005's "Elizabethtown".
