Emory University is honoring two students killed when a group of armed extremists stormed a restaurant in Dhaka, Bangladesh and left more than 20 people dead.
Speakers at today's vigil on the Atlanta campus shared memories of Faraaz Hossain and Abinta Kabir, calling the pair kind friends and campus leaders. The hour-long ceremony included prayers offered by students of many faiths.
Speakers also urged about 200 attendees to not give in to fear or anger.
Emory officials have said Kabir was entering Emory's Oxford College as a sophomore. She was visiting family and friends in Bangladesh at the time of Friday's attack. Hossain was a student at the university's Goizueta Business School in Atlanta.
Emory spokeswoman Elaine Justice says Kabir was from Miami and Hossain was from Dhaka.
