Punjab government employees and pensioners today threatened to oppose candidates of SAD-BJP alliance in Lok Sabha elections if their demands including payment of dearness allowance were not met.
Punjab Government Employees Federation and Punjab Government Pensioner Association in a joint statement gave an ultimatum to accept their demands within a week.
"If state government fails to concede our demands which then we will be forced to oppose alliance candidates in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls," the statement said.
They claimed that the SAD-BJP-led state government had promised on February 18 this year that it would accept all of their demands.
They said the state government had promised to pay DA installment due from January 2014 and constitution of 6th pay commission.
