The Akhil Gujarat Vidyut Kamdar Sangh (AGVKS), the only recognised union of the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), has threatened to intensify its stir and hold a rally in Gandhinagar in support of its demands.
"We want the management of the Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL) to immediately stop meting out injustice to the office bearers of AGVKS who are frequently transferred when they bring out incidents of corruption against top officials of the Vij Company and GUVNL," AGVKS general secretary Baldev Patel told reporters after a rally.
AGVKS general secretary PR Rathod, who was serving as deputy superintendent (checking) in the Godhra division, was recently transferred to Padra allegedly after he had issued an office note for the recovery of Rs 2.33 crore from a contractor who provides material to GUVNL.
"The GUVNL management wants to break the union, which is why it is resorting to such activities," charged Patel.
The AGVKS rally demanded prompt accpetance of its demands, which it said were long-pending.
Patel alleged that despite an increase in the workload of Class III and IV employees, GUVNL has not been recruiting staff since power sector reforms in the state in 2003.
When contacted, YB Sukhadiya, Superintending Engineer of MGVCL, rejected the allegations made by AGVKS and claimed it has been adopting unfair means to pressurise the management to desist from taking action against its office-bearers who are facing corruption charges.
