Encounter in Shopian in south Kashmir

A gunbattle broke out between security forces and militants in Shopian district of south Kashmir today.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kaddar forest area of Kellar, 50 kms from here, following information about presence of militants in the area, police said.
As the search operation was on, the hiding militants opened fire at the security forces triggering an encounter.
There was no report so far of any casualty in the gunbattle, they said.
