Endangered rock python hatches 36 eggs

An Indian rock python, an endangered species, has hatched 36 eggs at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park here and the hatchlings are being safely reared in a separate enclosure, zoo authorities said today.
The snake had laid the eggs in April. Each hatchling is being reared in a separate earthen pot in a wooded enclosure, Director, Arignar Anna Zoological Park said in a press release.
Largely found in the Western Ghats, Indian rock pythons are non-venomous and a fully grown snake weighs about 50 kg, and grows upto four metres, the release said.
