"The DVC team should accept the challenge and in the present scenario it should try to stand on its own," Energy Standing Committee chairman Kirit Somaiya told PTI.
He said that the final report was expected to be submitted before Parliament around Diwali.
The committee met the employees unions to get a view about the river valley project. The employees' representatives remained hopeful that the committee would do justice to their views and suggestions in the report, which in turn may prompt the government to take corrective measure to save the corporation.
The Jharkhand State Electricity Board alone owes DVC Rs 8,500 crore leading to the present cash crunch.
DVC employees suggested that if they were given the Rs 4,371 crore under a financial restructuring scheme, they would survive and would be able to complete every pending project.
The employees contend that the proposed sale of the Raghunathpur thermal power plant to NTPC to raise funds would strengthen monopoly which would be detrimental to regional interest.
