:'Danfoss Energy Efficiency Yatra', a nationwide-campaign targeted at raising awareness on energy efficiency, aimed at reducing energy consumption in energy intensive industries like textiles and pumps, was held in the city.
Being a textile, pumps and motors hub, the recent Yatra to promote industrial efficiency showcased how a better tomorrow was driven by Danfoss Drives.
The yatra is aimed at tapping the strong textile and pumps industry and to tell stakeholders on the need to switch to energy efficient drives which can significantly reduce energy savings, as energy consumption in this sector was augmented since introduction of modern machinery and processes, which can be reduced by applying the right energy saving technology.
"There is great potential for saving energy in industries like textile and pumps which form the backbone of Coimbatore's economy. Therefore it is crucial to spread awareness among industry stakeholders on the need to adopt technologies that will further optimise productivity, but reduce energy consumption," Soren Kvorning, vice president, Head of Asia, Pacific and India Region, Danfoss Drives, said in a release.
The yatra is conceptualised to sensitize key stakeholders on the need for energy efficiency interventions as a necessity more than an option.
Energy costs for the textile industry are high costing almost 8 to 10 per cent of manufacturing expenses, it said.
Danfoss India President Ravichandran Purushothaman said the multi-city Yatra was aimed at empowering industries to adopt brand new innovations in energy efficient technology and added that the bus (yatra) would cover 11,000 kms through various cities in a span of four months.
