The Federation of Engineers of the UPPCL has opposed the privatisation in Ghaziabad, Meerut and Varansi.
In a press conference convened here today at Chief Engineers Office, the state president of the federation, R K Singh said that all the 11 wings of employees and officers of the federation will oppose the privatisation of electricity in the three districts.
Members of the federation will observe September 22 as 'Virodh Divas' (Protest Day).
Singh told that UP government has started working on the plans to privatise the electricity of all those districts which are generating highest revenue for the state.

The government has signed an agreement with a Chennai- based company named 'Mecon' to collate data regarding properties and valuation of infrastructure of three districts of UP for an amount of Rs 1.56 crore.
The demand of power in Uttar Pradesh is 14000 MWs, where as supply is 11000 MWs. If these conditions persists, then the demand of electricity will reach 23,000 MWs in 2017, they claimed.
