The girl, a resident of Mettur in Salem district and a second year student, suddenly came out of her room and jumped down from the second floor.
Some hostel mates, who witnessed the incident, informed the management, who in turn called police, who recovered the body.
Investigations are on to ascertain for the reason behind the girl taking the extreme step, police said.
