The arrested have been identified as Phool Singh, who runs unauthorised parking lots, Vikas Sehrawat, a property dealer cum cricket bookie, Jai Kumar, a transporter, and Surender Singh Gahlot, the BTech degree holder who is into property business and betting.

They had allegedly abducted the 19-year-old son of a realtor from near his house in west Delhi after he returned from a party with his friends at a five star hotel on December 30. The victim's BMW was later abandoned in Dwarka area.

Initially, they had demanded Rs 10 crore as ransom. "The continuing negotiations over the day made it clear that the abductors were hardened criminals. On the intervening night of December 31-January one, a police team managed to rescue the victim upon the payment of agreed ransom money.

"This was necessitated as the safety and security of the victim and his release from the clutches of the abductors was given top preference while making efforts to identify the criminals," police said.

Police later identified the house where the boy was held captive and found that it belonged to Phool Singh, who along with his associates fled after allegedly receiving the ransom amount and were not traceable for the initial few days.

Investigators were sent to UP, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat to ascertain the whereabouts of the absconding accused.
