"Eastern Naga Students' Association (ENSA) is grateful to Dr Manmohan Singh for his recent visit to Myanmar and showing India's special concern towards the Nagas of Myanmar who have been overlooked and neglected for the ages in terms of infrastructure development," a statement received here from the students' body said.

ENSA was hopeful that the face and fortune of the Naga people in Myanmar would now see change following the prime minister's visit.

ENSA vice president Mankhat Konyak and general secretary Y Khomong Khiamniungan, in the joint statement, said that the students' organisation hoped that "following his (PM's) visit, the face of the Naga area will change within a couple of years.

However, due to the changing of government system in Myanmar and opening the doors wider to global communities, "we are optimistic that the untold sufferings of the Naga ethnic minority in Myanmar will come to an end," the ENSA stated.
