The minister also took a round of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport to take stock of the passenger amenities including the upkeep of toilets among others, an official release said today.
He held a high level review meeting to assess facilities at the Kolkata airport, which is already in the process of privatisation.
Sharma after the meeting directed the authorities to ensure all basic facilities to the tourists at the airport.
The airport handles 120 domestic and international flights per day and despite all odds has generated a surplus of Rs 326 crore in the last five years, it said.
