Rao wanted the officials to make arrangements to withstand the demand for 10,000 MW of electricity, a release from his office said.
He spoke to the CMD of power utilities D Prabhakar Rao on the rise in demand for power due to increase in cultivation of land during the Rabi season, it said.
The CMD informed Rao that the utilities are ready to supply the power and meet the increased demand, it said.
"The total demand may increase to 10,000 MW. Besides providing adequate water supply to the farm sector, measures should be taken to supply power without any interruption to the industry, domestic sectors in the coming summer," the release quoted Rao as saying.
