Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today said there was a need for complete coordination among all concerned departments and agencies for ensuring smooth conduct of upcoming annual Amarnath pilgrimage.
To ensure safety of pilgrims, the officers should ensure strict regulation of the Yatra to 3,880-mt high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, the Governor said.
"There is a need for complete coordination among all concerned departments and agencies for smooth conduct of the pilgrimage," Vohra, also chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, said.
The Governor was interacting with civil and police officers deployed to manage Yatra camps on twin routes of Baltal in Ganderbal and Pahalgam in Anantnag district.
Vohra asked them to personally inspect each and every arrangement being made at their camp locations and related Yatra routes, an official spokesman said.
He directed all officers to provide required assistance to pilgrims to enable them to complete their Yatra without facing any inconvenience.
"No Yatri without valid registration should be allowed to cross the Access Control Gates at Chandanwari along the traditional 45-km Pahalgam route and Domail in the shortest 16-km Baltal route," he said.
The annual yatra is scheduled to commence simultaneously from both the routes on June 28.
