'Ensure transparency for best corporate governance practices'

To ensure best corporate governance practices, efforts should be made to create an environment of transparency, a Corporate Affairs Ministry official said today.
He was speaking at the International Corporate Governance Day organised by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) here.
To enumerate the possible methods and procedures for the adoption of Best corporate governance practices by the entire world, it becomes all the more important to create an environment of maximum transparency, Navarang Saini, Director (Investigation & Inspection) at the Ministry, said.
"The G20/OECD principles of corporate governance will promote trust and improve functioning of the economy, build efficiency, financial stability and sound financial systems that will promote good governance.
"We are eager to continue the collaboration with India to work towards the same," Austin Tyler, Junior Policy Analyst ( Corporate Affairs Division) at Paris-based think tank Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) said.

Hartek Power connects 50 MW solar project in AP
Hartek Power Ltd has successfully connected a 50-MW solar project to the grid in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
The scope of work of the 132/11 KV substation project involved complete turnkey solutions and post-inverter works covering the design, engineering, installation and commissioning of the power plant electrification and automation systems as well as pooling stations, it said.

* Handset maker OnePlus today launched a new smartphone 'OnePlus 3' priced at Rs 27,999.
This is the first device from the OnePlus stable to be available for purchase without an invite from Day 1.
"India has always been a special market for us and we are thrilled to launch the OnePlus 3 for our Indian users simultaneously with the rest of the world. We are confident the phone will bode well with the expectations of the Indian fans," OnePlus India General Manager Vikas Agarwal said.
The device features 5.5-inch display, 2.2 GHz processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB memory, 16MP rear and 8MP front camera and 3,000 mAh battery. It comes with OnePlus' custom operating system, OxygenOS.

Zensar bags multi-mn dollar deal from John Lewis * IT firm Zensar Technologies today said it has bagged a multi-million dollar managed services deal from John Lewis, UK's largest department store retailer.
Zensar already works with John Lewis for next generation applications management solutions.
As part of this five-year agreement, Zensar will be responsible for application management and technical analysis services for buying, selling, supply chain, financial management, management information systems, digital and online order management, customer delivery and mobile applications, it said in a statement.

Delhi, Mumbai airports bag Skytrax awards
* Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital has bagged the award for the "Best Airport in India and Central Asia" from Skytrax.
Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport secured the top award for the "Best Airport Staff Service" in India and Central Asia.
The winners were chosen on the basis of 13.82 million questionnaires completed by air travellers from 105 different nationalities between July 2016 and February 2017.
It covered 550 airports worldwide and evaluated traveller experiences across different airport services.
The award ceremony was held at Amsterdam, Netherlands on Tuesday.
Recently, the Delhi airport was ranked second in the world in terms of the highest category of over 40 million passengers per annum (MPPA) as per Airport Council International's Airport Service Quality Awards 2016.
