Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today directed power utility PSPCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply for 12 hours to farmers for running water pumps during ensuing paddy and cotton season.
Badal also directed the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited to transfer tube well connections to legal heirs of deceased farmers without seeking any tube well test report.
The Chief Minister asked the PSPCL to hold special camps for transferring tube well connections in the name of bonafide legal heirs in all the villages across the state, after meeting a delegation of Bharti Kisan Union (Sidhupur), Punjab led by its President Pishora Singh Sidhu here.
He said the government has framed a new tube well policy for the year 2013-14 to release 25,000 tube well connections.
In another decision, Badal directed the Director General of Police and Principal Secretary Industries to allow farmers to carry out earth mining in their fields for domestic use as they complained of being unduly harassed by the police on the pretext of mining provisions.
