And, for the last couple of years Piyush Tewari has been leading a group of trainers who pass on techniques to police officers and lay volunteers on basic medical care to those who have just met with an accident.
Through his Save Life Foundation (SLF) set up in the year 2010, Tiwari a graduate from Delhi University has been conducting one day workshops at the Old Police lines here to train people in administer basic life saving procedures such as controlling heavy bleeding, properly lifting the person without affecting the neck and spine, giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to revive the pulse etc.
"It is vital that the person gets proper and timely medical attention soon after the accident. But it is unreasonable to expect that there would be an ambulance and proper medical attention immediately available," says Tewari who received the Young Laureate award by Rolex in the year 2010.
Tiwari's foundation has now tied up with major hospitals like AIIMS Trauma centre and other leading hospitals in the city.
From saving lives to providing sustenance to lives of many, Chanda Shroff, has dedicated over four decades of her life to reviving traditional hand embroidery and has empowered over 22,000 women from 120 villages across Kutch in Gujarat.
Shroff was the first Indian to get a Laureate from Rolex in 2006 for her her contribution in the field of reviving traditional hand embroidery.

"The social conditions and disparity is widespread, poverty is the biggest impediment," says Shroff who called for the support of designers to "promote and incorporate crafts into their clothes" and the Government to "fund and properly utilize the amount for the development of crafts."
Two other Indians - Captain R Gopinath, ex-Armyman, and Shekhar Dattarai have also been recipients of the awards in the past.
