With the svelte but vintage Filmfare setting up its foot on the East followed by a 24x7 music channel on the lines of its cousin in Bollywood, Bengali film star Abir Chatterjee says he feels lucky to be part of the industry around this time.
"This shows the entertainment industry here is on the cusp of growth, more growth means more footfalls and channel viewing. And more public awareness for the sector. Happy that Fatafati channel has also come up now," Abir told PTI here.
The 'Feluda' in 'Badshahi Angti' said, "I hope entertainment channels will dominate our air waves and seen by the Bengali diaspora elsewhere. We need vibrancy, we need colors, we need variety in content and freshness for the youth."
Actor Subhosree, one of the lead pair in upcoming 'Ami Sudhu Cheyechhi Tomay' said, "We, the Tollywoood actors, are the new faces of the entertainment segment. One can't cater to the niche market only."
Siddharth Mishra, director of channel, said, "If you aim to buy a car go for a Mercedez. You can then acquire a Porsche or a Bentley gradually."
"Fatafati is one word which has instant connect with the present day youth, as such terms and phrases have become part of their dialect," partner Himansu Dhanuka of Eskay Movies said.
"We are also planning to introduce different genre films for the Bengali Gen Y," Dhanuka, having produced blockbusters including Khoka 420, said.
