"It's gratifying for EON Electric to have won the LED street lighting projects in the open bidding process of the Government-sponsored Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) and for being associated with the Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan Governments to transform the region's lighting and energy savings scenario," company Chairman V P Mahendru said.
With the government's emphasis on conserving energy by replacing conventional lights by LED lights, the demand for LED streetlights in India would be around Rs 39,500 crore by 2020, a company statement said.
The company will install 60,000 LED streetlights in Jodhpur and 13,000 in Aligarh.
These streetlights are installed with Centrally Controlled System, which continuously monitors and reports satisfactory performance and energy conservation of these LED Streetlights, the statement said.

"We are also exporting our LED Lights to Dubai and plan extending our export market to African and other Middle East and South-East Asian countries," Mahendru said.
LED streetlights ensure glare-free light for ease, comfort and safety on the road, while walking or driving. By preventing dark patches in between streetlights, they safeguard pedestrians.
