The Mining Development Officer, Sheikhpura, Jhakari Ram has amassed ill-gotten wealth worth Rs 7 crore in his name and his wife's name was found out during search at his residence in Patna and residence and office in Sheikhpura district by the EOW teams, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Headquarters, Ravindra Kumar told reporters.
The EOW teams recovered Rs 1.64 crore cash and documents of deposits in banks worth Rs 2.44 crore, besides details of investments and movable and immovable properties in Patna, Kaimur, Varanasi and other places, he said.
The EOW teams also carried out simultaneous raids at eight places of the Mining Inspector, Gopalganj, Virendra Prasad Yadav, in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali and Gopalganj and seized documents of disproportionate assets worth Rs 2.1 crore comprising house in Patna, two land pieces in Muzaffarpur, investment worth Rs eight lakh, vehicles worth Rs ten lakh, besides Rs 3.11 lakh, he said.
Search and verification of documents were on at Yadav's places, Kumar said, adding an FIR has been lodged against the Mining Inspector too under the prevention of corruption act.
