EPFO opens 1st special corporate office for big employers

In bid to provide prompt services to big employers in the organised sector, retirement fund body has opened the first Special Corporate Office (SCO) at its regional office at Bandra in Mumbai.
The first SCO of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) was inaugurated by the Labour Minister Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya at Bandra, an official statement said.
EPFO has introduced the concept of SCO with a view to provide exemplary and prompt service to a large chunk of its subscribers who are in employment with select big firms covered under its purview and contributing a significant amount as PF dues, it said.

As many as 16 firms have been selected for inclusion in the SCO at Bandra. It is expected that such firms will themselves be model establishments as regards PF work and will in turn get rewarded with quick, hassle-free and prompt service, it added.
The SCO is not a separate office. It is a sub-office of the existing Regional Office, but shall enjoy functional autonomy to achieve its stated objectives. EPFO has plans to open more SCOs in other regional offices particularly in metropolitan cities.
With this initiative, efforts are being made by EPFO to provide services to stakeholders, especially employees, in the minimum possible time.

While inaugurating the SCO, Dattatreya, lauded the EPFO for taking this initiative for bringing about greater subscriber satisfaction. He said this is the latest in a series of measures taken in the recent past for improving the services offered by the EPFO.
He further elaborated that the EPFO has engaged CDAC (Centre for Development of Advance Computing), Pune as the technical consultant for ushering in e-governance in all spheres of work.
Maharashtra Miniser of Housing, Mining & Labour, Prakash Manchhubhai Mehta, Member of Parliament Poonam Mahajan and Labour Secretary Gauri Kumar were among those present on the occasion.
