The first SCO of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) was inaugurated by the Labour Minister Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya at Bandra, an official statement said.
EPFO has introduced the concept of SCO with a view to provide exemplary and prompt service to a large chunk of its subscribers who are in employment with select big firms covered under its purview and contributing a significant amount as PF dues, it said.
The SCO is not a separate office. It is a sub-office of the existing Regional Office, but shall enjoy functional autonomy to achieve its stated objectives. EPFO has plans to open more SCOs in other regional offices particularly in metropolitan cities.
With this initiative, efforts are being made by EPFO to provide services to stakeholders, especially employees, in the minimum possible time.
He further elaborated that the EPFO has engaged CDAC (Centre for Development of Advance Computing), Pune as the technical consultant for ushering in e-governance in all spheres of work.
Maharashtra Miniser of Housing, Mining & Labour, Prakash Manchhubhai Mehta, Member of Parliament Poonam Mahajan and Labour Secretary Gauri Kumar were among those present on the occasion.
