As part efforts to upgrade its service delivery mechanism, Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has settled more than 50 lakh claims so far this fiscal out of which 97 per cent was settled within 30 days as mandated by the scheme.
In August alone, 10.98 lakh claims were settled and the percentage of claims settled within the mandated time-limit was 98.90 per cent, Labour and Employment Ministry said in a statement today.
"Importantly, as a result of constant upgradation in the standards of service delivery, 39 per cent of the claims were settled in a mere 3 days while more than 73 per cent were sorted out within 3 days," it said.
The Ministry said as part of the customer satisfaction initiative, EPFO has launched a special drive to redress grievances. Under this initiative, the Organisation was able to redress 27,056 complaints in August alone.
Besides, 47,722 grievances were settled in the last two months, the statement said.
In a related development, Central Provident Fund Commissioner K K Jalan informed that the process of issue of Certificate of Coverage (CoC) under social security contribution has been decentralised.
It would benefit workers in countries with whom India has signed the social security agreement. Such agreements have been signed with 17 countries and 9 of them have been operationalised.
The certificate can be obtained from the field office concerned instead of head office as in the past.
