Equitable development and justice benchmark for J&K govt: Omar

Equitable development and justice to all irrespective of region, religion, caste or creed is the benchmark for Jammu and Kashmir government's functioning, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said today.
Addressing a gathering here on Guru Ravidass Jayanti, Abdullah said the government was determined to achieve inclusive development and has marked holistic growth of weaker sections as focus area in state's policy planning.
The Chief Minister said efforts were taken by the government to safeguard special provisions guaranteed by the constitution for comprehensive development and welfare of weaker sections.
"Directions have been given to concerned officials to ensure all benefits reach to these sections without any hassle," he said.
Extending greetings to the followers of Guru Ravidass on his 636th birth anniversary, Abdullah described the saint as a great social reformer who sacrificed a lot to create a just and equal society.
"The best way of paying tributes to Guru Ji is to work for the upliftment of needy, downtrodden, women and destitute," he said.
The Chief Minister also announced Rs 20 lakh for constructing the flooring of Guru Ravi Das Ji Sabha complex.
