The Indian Railways has been passing through a rough patch with a number of accidents having occurred in various zones in the recent months.
Harindra Rao, general manager of Eastern Railways, inspected Jasidih-Dumka, Dumka-Rampurhat and Sainthia-Andal sections of Eastern Railways Asansol and Howrah Divisions.
He inspected measures taken by the Railways for passenger safety at Jasidih, Basukinath and Dumka stations, he said.
"Rao asked divisional railway managers and other divisional officers to monitor total safety of train operations as there should be zero tolerance on safety aspects," the spokesman said.
Rao interacted with the gatemen, gangmen, station masters, technicians and other field staff regarding safety and punctuality of train movement.
He inspected the progress of various passenger amenity works and cleanliness at the station premises and explored possibilities of further improvement.
