Escorts tractor sales down 31.7% in March

Farm equipment maker Escorts today reported 31.7 per cent decline in its total tractor sales in March at 4,223 units.
The company had sold 6,187 units in the same month of last year, Escorts Ltd said in filing to BSE.
Domestic tractor sales were at 4,163 units as against 6,087 units in March last year, down 31.6 per cent, it said.
Exports were also down 40 per cent at 60 units in March this year as compared to 100 units in the year-ago month, it said.
For the fiscal 2014-15, Escorts said its total sales were at 59,772 units as against 68,963 units in the previous close, down 13.3 per cent.

Domestic sales in the fiscal were also down 15.4 per cent at 57,563 units as compared to 68,054 units in the previous fiscal.
Exports were up 143 per cent at 2,209 units last fiscal as against 909 units in the previous year, the company added.
