Essar Power today said it has commissioned the first unit of 120 MW captive Paradeep power plant in Odisha.
While the first 30 MW unit of the coal fired plant has been commissioned, the remaining three units of 30 MW each would be started in phases in the coming months to meet captive requirement of the group's steel plant, the company said in a statement here.
"The 120 MW coal fired power plant will meet the power requirement of Essar Steel's 12 million tonnes per annum integrated palletisation facility in Odisha, comprising of a palletisation plant at Paradeep and a beneficiation plant at Dabuna, connected through a 253 km slurry pipeline," it said.
Essar Power owns and operates power plants in India and Canada with a total generation capacity of 6,700 MW.
