A committee had been formed for the purpose and it was examining the concerned issues including drafting of the bill on Lokauyukta, Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department Undersecretary S Malathi informed the court.
Besides, the central government had proposed certain amendments to the Lokpal and Lokayuktha Act-2013. The draft legislation would be suitably drafted and finalised soon, she submitted.
The court had earlier directed the government to file a counter on a PIL by B Stalin, an advocate, seeking to direct the state government to constitute Lokayukta within a stipulated period to deal with series of corruption and other complaints of malpractices against the state government.
