ETPBs sent to armed forces voters in Punjab

The Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab today said Electronic Transmission of Postal Ballots (ETPB) have been sent to 423 armed forces personnel in five constituencies of Punjab, as per guidelines of the Election Commission.
Out of these five constituencies, four are in Ludhiana and one in Jalandhar.
In a statement issued here, Chief Electoral Officer V K Singh said with an aim to ensure that armed forces are not left behind in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections, ETPBs was introduced for the first time in Punjab for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha Elections.
This novel initiative has been implemented in five constituencies of Punjab out of which 4 fall in Ludhiana District which are Ludhiana East, Atam Nagar, Ludhiana Central, Ludhiana North and one in Jalandhar West (Reserved).
Giving further details of the ETPBs, Singh said total number of armed forces voters falling in these five constituencies is 423 (284 in Ludhiana and 139 in Jalandhar).
These voters have been issued ballot papers electronically by the respective Returning Officers.
Service voters can download these ballot papers till 5 pm on February 4, and can send them to returning officers till 8 am on March 11.
All the candidates have also been apprised of the new initiative through the required training-cum-awareness programme conducted by DEO Ludhiana and Jalandhar, said Singh.
