The unidenfiied persons ransacked the house in Alandur and attacked some persons, including women, with iron rods, causing injuries to four of them, police said.
The attackers fled the scene immediately.
The attack was stated to be a retaliation for a quarrel between two groups during a temple function, they said.
Police personnel had been posted in the area following the attack.
