A case has been registered against former BSP MLA Yogesh Verma and his family for allegedly usurping property "belonging" to his uncle.
The former BSP MLA from Meerut's Hastinapur reserve seat, Yogesh along with his brothers Deepak, Santram and his father Arvind have been booked on charges of usurping property worth several crores of Rupees, police said today.
Yogesh's uncle, retired Circle Officer (CO) Gopichand Verma and his son Satishchand, residents of Dhanju village, have filed a complaint against the accused of misbehaving, refusing to return their share of 22.5 acres agricultural land and also giving death threats to them.
Gopichand claimed that he had given the land to his brother Arvind, for farming purpose 25 years ago, police said.
Police has registered a case in this regard and further investigations are on in the matter.
In his complaint, Gopichand has alleged that when he demanded to get his share of the land back, Yogender allegedly misbehaved with him and refused to return the land.
The ex-BSP MLA from Hastinapur reserve seat in Meerut Yogesh Verma, was denied ticket to contest Uttar Pradesh Assembly election and later expelled from BSP in 2012. He had joined the Peace Party and contested Assembly election from that party seat but lost. Verma, however, managed to get back into BSP.
