Ex-councillor's husband shot dead

A former councillor's husband was today shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in Maharajpur village here, following which locals blocked roads and staged a protest, the police said.
Hazi Haroon (60) was killed this afternoon. He was shot at four times and he died on the spot, Senior Superintendent of Police H N Singh said.
The officer said that a few days ago two groups from the village had met over a property dispute at a panchayat where the victim's friend Zakir was also shot at. The police is probing all the angles, Singh said.
Footage from CCTV cameras are being examined to identify the assailants, he said.
