Allowing the bail petition, Justice R S Ramanathan of the bench here directed him to sign before the Sattur Police station daily until further orders.
According to police, the former minister had played a role in closing the murder of Lakshmanan as undetectable since a local DMK functionary Sahul Hameed was allegedly involved in it. Hameed had approached Ramachandran, confessed his role in the murder and sought his help. The then minister had condemned him, but assured to take care of the case.
Later, the police had closed the case, saying Lakshmanan was killed after he was run over by a car.
The case has been revived based on the 'confession' of Hameed, who was arrested recently, and Ramachandran was arraigned as an accused and arrested ten days ago.
The judge said there were some allegations against the former minister, but they were bailable offences, and granted the bail.
He directed the petitioner to cooperate with the police in the investigation. PTI SSN VS
