Ex-IAS officer GN Phani Kumar new head of APPCB

Andhra Pradesh Government has appointed former IAS officer G N Phani Kumar as chairman of state Pollution Control Board, considering his experience in environmental and other related matters.
Phani Kumar, earlier worked as the Director General of Centre for Good Governance (CGG) during January 2011 to July 2012.
A 1990 IAS batch officer, Phani Kumar has a PhD and masters in public administration.
As the director of communications and information technology in CMC Ltd, Phani Kumar was the founder director of 'eSeva'--an electronic service delivery organisation--and was presented a medal for the best governance initiative in San Francisco in 2003.
In the course of his career, he was worked with the Environment Protection Training and research Institute, (EPTRI), general administration department, and held the post of commissioner of AP Academy of Rural Development, Hyderabad before joining CGG, an official release said today.
