The Indian Oceanic Party (IOP), floated by former Rajasthan-cadre IAS officer, C P Vyas, has announced that the party would contest on all 182 seats in the Gujarat Assembly polls, to be held later this year.
Vyas claimed to have formed this party in 2011 after quitting his job as an IAS officer.
"The present (BJP) government in Gujarat as well as at the Centre has come to power on the fake promises, while the Congress has failed to play its role of a strong opposition here as well as at the Centre," Vyas, who is the national president of the party said here today.
The IOP has decided to contest on all seats in the state and take Gujarat to new heights of development, Vyas said, adding that no development has taken place in Gujarat in the last several years.
"Congress, in its 60 years of rule, had done nothing except promoting corruption. It even failed as a strong opposition party. Although BJP has been in power here since the last two decades, it has also failed to address basic issues concerning people, such as proper roads and drinking water" he said.
Vyas claimed that his party would address these issues if voted to power.
He also claimed that he had to quit his job as an IAS officer in Rajasthan due to his stand against corruption.
"I had to quit my job as I was not allowed to fight against corruption in Rajasthan. Therefore, I decided to quit the government job and form a party. This is for the first time the party would contest the polls after its formation in 2011," he said.
