Ex-IDPL GM sentenced to one-year RI

A former General Manager of Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited (IDPL) here was today sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment by a CBI court for criminal misconduct in leasing out a company property in 2003-04.
XIII Special Judge for CBI Cases K Paramaraj, who convicted Kapudas Christdas Vara Subhshit Rao alias K C V S Rao, also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.
According to the prosecution, Rao, who was the General Manager of IDPL during 2003-04, abused his office by leasing out land belonging to the company to a private firm at a rate lesser than the prevailing market rate by violating rule.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau of CBI had registered a case and on completion of investigation, a chargesheet was filed against him under various sections of IPC including 420 (cheating) and Prevention of Corruption Act.
