The son of a former BJP MLA was robbed of cash and gold jewellery by a gang of about 15 people in the Biichwan area of Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri district, police said on Friday.
Saurabh, the son of former MLA Narendra Singh Rathore, was travelling with his friend in a car Thursday evening when the gang of robbers stopped their car and took away Rs 45,000 in cash and a gold chain, the police said.
Saurabh and his friend were also beaten up and fired upon.
An FIR has been lodged against three named and 12 unidentified persons, the police said, adding that a man has been taken into custody.
Superintendent of Police Ajayy Shanker Rai said the culprits will be nabbed soon.
Former MLA Rathore is also the chairman of the District Cooperative Bank, Mainpuri.
