The court of special judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu, A K Koul, convicted Mangat Ram Sharma, the then Patwari Halqa, Parladhpur Phallian Mandal, Jammu, after he was caught red handed for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1,800 from a complainant in 2007, a SVO official said.
The judge found Sharma guilty and convicted him to one year rigorous imprisonment for offence punishable under section 5(2)(d) J&K PC Act and a fine of Rs 1,000 and a one year imprisonment for offence punishable under section 161 of RPC and both the sentences shall run concurrently, he said.
