Excise dept employee held for theft of 25 bikes

An excise department employee was arrested here today for allegedly stealing 25 motorcycles worth Rs nine lakh from different places in the state.
Kotte Sudhakar (59), working as an attender in excise department at Hyderabad, stole 25 motorcycles worth Rs nine lakhs from February to April 8 this year, SP, Warangal Urban, A Venkateshwara Rao told reporters here.
Sudhakar had earlier also stolen around five vehicles from Secretariat and many other bikes at different places in the state from 2004 to 2011.
After he stole a two-wheeler at Musheerabad, he was arrested and sent to jail. Even Nalgonda police had arrested him for stealing a bike, the SP said.
He was suspended in 2004 from service but the suspension was lifted in 2006, Rao said.
After his arrest, Sudhakar was produced in the local court today which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days, he said, adding 25 two-wheelers were seized from his possession.
