Jammu and Kashmir government has recorded nearly 15 per cent growth in excise tax at Rs 762 crore for the eight months ending November 30, as compared to Rs 663.37 crore revenue during the same period of 2014-15.
"Up to the month of November in 2015-16 fiscal, the Excise department has realised an amount of Rs 762.32 crore as against Rs 663.37 crore in same period of 2014-15, registering a growth of 14.92 per cent", Excise Commissioner, J&K, Tsering Angchuk said.
"Normally, there is a growth of 5 to 6 per cent in routine way. But due to Eradication and Enforcement activity, there has been such a growth", Angchuk said.
He said that the growth has been almost consistent on the monthly basis and credit goes to the officers and officials of the department.
The total revenue realised by the Excise Department during the month of November 2015-16 was Rs 98.33 crore in comparison to Rs 87.89 crore realised during the same month of the last fiscal, registering a growth of 11.88 per cent, he added.
The overall growth scenario of the revenue receipts of the Department for the month of November and total revenue realised during April-November was discussed threadbare and examined critically, he added.
It was noticed in the meeting that the revenue realisation is showing an upward trend with regard to the revenue targets fixed for the Department for 2015-16 fiscal.
