In an attempt to tackle the increasing incidents of eve-teasing, East Singhbhum district police has decided to launch an exclusive women force next week to rein in the eve-teasers.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Amol V Homkar today said the 'Shakti Mobile' police force would be launched to check eve-teasing in and around the city.
Personnel of the force would be deployed in and around women's colleges, schools and bus-stands to keep vigil on mischief-mongers from next week, said Homkar.
Initially, the 'Shakti Mobile' would have a strength of one officer and four constables, he said.
Around 10 to 12 eve-teasing cases were being reported from the city and its surrounding areas every month, he said and expressed hope that 'Shakti Mobile' would be able to lower the cases to a large extent.
The exclusive women police force would be launched at a programme in a women's college here next week, when the police would also aware the students about cyber crimes.
Homkar who recently flagged off a month-long cyber crime awareness campaign, asked eve-teasing victims to report the incidents at the anti-eve-teasing cell of the police.
Meanwhile, the district police have been distributing pamphlets particularly among Internet-savvy youths on safety measures to be taken during banking or shopping online and sharing information of bank accounts, ATM cards besides posting personal photographs on social media.
