An executive engineer of Indira Gandhi Canal Project was arrested Friday for allegedly taking Rs 20,000 bribe in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district, an Anti Corruption Bureau official said.

Deshraj Nunia, the accused, had demanded the bribe money from complainant Jamal Khan for clearing repair work bills of the canal area in Mohangarh block of the district, ACB DSP Anil Purohit said.

He said a team raided Mohangarh canal project office and arrested the accused engineer accepting the bribe red-handed.

A case was registered against Nunia under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is on, he added.
