Exhibition showcasing religious diversity inaugurated in Delhi

A Muslim man performing 'wudu', a ritual performed before prayer by Sikhs celebrating Vaisakhi, the festival of harvest -- the photographs narrate stories of pluralism.
Part of an event, celebrating the best of Indian religious diversity in the United States, the vignettes form part of a photo exhibition, which was inaugurated at the American Centre here today.
US Embassy Charge D'Affaires Marykay Carlson, who was present on the occasion, spoke about the need for joint Indo- US efforts to engender "tolerance" toward all religions, allowing them to flourish with dignity and freedom.
"The more our two countries share in the practice of our ideals, the more we can work together to show the world our common commitment to engender tolerance toward all religions, allowing them to flourish with dignity and freedom," she said.

Amarendra Khatua, Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) was also present at the launch of the exhibition, which has been curated by the Meridian International Center, Washington, DC.
The collection of photographs highlights how Indian faiths have flourished across America, illustrating how individuals, communities, and organizations practice their traditions and celebrate their differences, a US embassy statement said.
Titled "Keeping Faith: Indian Religious Traditions in the United States", the exhibition will run till May 31.
