Art-lovers can have a glimpse of his 23 masterpiece paintings in water colour and pencil sketches, from the collection of the State Russian Museum (St Petersburg) from October 30 to November 30 there.
"The Embassy of the Russian Federation in India will hold a exhibition on paintings by Prince Alexei Saltykov (1806-1859) to promote and popularise the Russian art and culture in India," Fedor Rozovskiy, Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture, told reporters today.
A book 'Prince Alexei Saltykov's Journeys Across India', describing Saltykov's visit to India, will also be released on the opening day of the exhibition.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Karan Singh, President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Alexander Kadakin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India.
Evegenia Petrova, Deputy Director for Science of the State Russian Museum and Joseph Kiblitsky, Director of the Publishing Programmes Department of the Russian Museum were among those who were present on the occasion.
