"We have acquired new clients at a rapid pace in the past six months, especially small and medium enterprises. It makes sense for SMEs to reduce cost and we are focused on them now," Exotel co-founder and chief executive Shivakumar Ganesan told PTI over the phone from Bangalore.
Cloud telephony works like a virtual call-centre that manages business and customer calls for third party customers, with minimal cost as the data is stored in cloud.
As growth gains momentum, the company is also looking at ramping up its headcount. "We will be doubling our team to 100 employees by the end of the year to cater to growing business," Ganesan said.
The company has a customer base of over 600, with clients such as Ola, Zivame, and Barbeque Nation, that apart, the old-economy brands like Titan are also on board as well as "long tail of smaller startups", he said.
Players in the cloud telephony space offering virtual call centre services for small businesses include Knowlarity Communications, Call-Net,VoiceTree and Ozonetel among others.
